Yehoodi.com requested submissions for their 10 year anniversary party in October 2008. They accepted 116 of my photos of the swing dance scene featuring dancers from the world of Yehoodi.
They are publishing a collection of images, including photos of events we participate in like the NYC Dance Parade, the Coney Island Mermaid Parade, and our teachers, mentors, band leaders, DJs, nightclubs, dance scools, church basements, university campuses that tell the story of dance and those who support the art form.
Photo is of the 2004 Mermaid Parade and dancers John aka Equivoque and his partner Marta who made the gorgeous costumes.
Will upload my video shortly...

When I first moved to Brooklyn in 1999, it was fun to see fireflies lighting up the front yards on my way home from work.
Then there was a west nile virus scare and our mayor Guliani, went nuts and sprayed all of NYC with pesticide and it seemed like the fireflies would never recover. I am happy to report they are back, however, not as many as the past.
I was able to contribute many photos to the documentary "On The Street" by director John Spellos about the photos and book of the same title by Amy Arbus.
The film will be released September 2008, but I was lucky to see a sneak preview at the Walter Reade Theater in Lincoln Center on my birthday, 4/7/08.
The film focuses on the photographer, her subjects and a "where are they now?" interview and my photos were among those that fleshed out the flavor of New York City in the 1980s. I'll post some of the selects soon.
Also some images of NYC in the 70s and 80s were supplied by my good friend, artist Brian Spaeth.
